We have the idea of using Contour to store our test procedures and
generate a report in Word format for testers to use to record test
results.
I have a report built in BIRT that allows me to select a folder from a given set and creates a report on all the items in that folder. So the report itself is fine.
I would like to upload this report to Contour but there isn't support for the report parameters I need.
The report I have is similar to what is displayed by the quick report feature when used from the sub-items tab.
So an alternate/additional feature request would be to allow viewing the quick report as a word doc.
1. Regarding the parameters. Sounds like you need to be able to select a folder from a set as the parameter that is passed to the report. Let me know if I understand this correctly.
2. You can actually get a quick report into Word. If once you run a quick report you then select from the browser window file --> save as... (save page as... in Firefox). When you are prompted to save the file rename it to be yourfile.doc (the .doc is the key) this will allow Word to open the file. We are looking at automating this step so you can choose when running the quick report which format you'd like to view in: HTML or Word.
1. That's correct.
2. Ok. I hadn't tried the obvious solution of file->save as. Thanks. Still would be nice to have the format options in quick report that you have in the other reports.
I tried the save page as... option but what gets saved is not the report but the previous page that prompts for the report style.
I've tried IE7 and Firefox3 both with the same result.
Interesting. I get the same thing on my computer using IE7, FF2 or FF3 but for everybody else in the office it works fine. I tried to determine why my settings would be any different but have not found anything yet. I'm guessing you're seeing the same issue I'm seeing. I'm guessing it's something in windows seeing as how it's across browsers and works fine for most people.
We have made some changes in the upcoming 2.4 release that should eliminate this issue as it doesn't use that interim page.
