The project psyche

We had an interesting discussion the other day about implementing features that allowed members on a team to vote, rank or otherwise help determine priority. One example was to enable team members, managers and stakeholders to rank an item based on different questions. Developers would rank cost (this could be derived from the estimate maybe), stakeholders on importance, project manager on scope. This would be compiled into a ranking of importance.

This made a lot of sense and goes further into empowering the team. But all of this is about scientifically using information to determine project success, which is very informative and powerful. However, the idea came about of providing a confidence rating. Now this was interesting. I've been intrigued with this idea of allowing an element of randomness into a project. Not something you completely rely on, but more of an insight into the psyche of a project at any given time. The confidence index is interesting because it could change each day. Say, each time someone logs into Contour they are asked "What is your confidence of success today?". It's a crazy question but it would be interesting to track something like this. Most importantly this kind of information would not track who entered what.

I think I would prefer the question "What would you rather be doing today?"
